This looks like a once in a lifetime find. If it were mine, I'd get it slabbed for my heirs (that is whoever gets stuck cleaning out my house when I'm gone) just so they are aware that it isn't a beat-up coin. I doubt I'd ever sell it.

I am thinking that the value of slabbing is more in getting the coin and the documentation of what the errors are in one certified place. Not so much about the value at all, which is a big "who knows" anyway since this thing is not exactly eye candy.

I agree completely!

Well I am going to send it in, probably next week, and certainly will report back on what comes of it and how it gets labeled. I don't play much with slabbed coins so no clue how long it will take but plan on using PCGS.

Tropicalbats, I believe you and I agree that it is a real U.S. Mint error as Mike Diamond described it. I will be excited to see the news about this coin getting slabbed by PCGS! I'll be here once the slab comes back.

Got the coin back today. I'd say it scored quite well, being listed as MS-64 Struck in Copper Piece Double Struck 2nd Strike Broadstruck.

Pretty nice to get it back just before Christmas! And the 50% off-center Kennedy I sent in with it scored MS-65, so double the fun.

Condition matters on error coins and you got a decent grade.
