Guess I was wrong about these customer rolls being searched. There is no way someone could have missed this.

Nice one. Maybe they didn't know what a Cud was or that it is collectible. Anyhow, good find.

These have a great premium. You'd be surprised. Keep looking. There maybe more things your missing. Questions? Ask. The dumbest question is the one never asked.

Sweet find @11997755! The As the metal flowed into the broken portion of the die, it didn't really fill out the other side (thereby showing weakness on ONE CENT). What I find interesting is that the surface texture of this area is probably very close to that of an un-struck planchet since it never really interacted with the die wall.

The weakness is caused by the missing part of the die on the obverse. put your finger tips together. Then fold one under. Note how there is no pressure now on the digit that is not opposing the the digits. Same on the strike. With the missing pressure because the the die having a void, doesn't form the devices on the opposite side. A sure sign of a real Cud.

Sweet score! It's an amazing Cud and you should get a decent premium for it.

Thanks for the input all. Unfortunately the stain on the back is there to stay. It laughed at acetone.
