I think everyone was pondering as well with questions at first. But everything got answered. But anyway, this was a very fun and entertaining thread I made. Pretty odd to find this CRH.

The biggest issue against this theory is that the coin is normal weight. The weight should be reduced it is were a rolling mill error.

I'm not sure what kind of error this is, or if it even is an error. The coin's poor condition may preclude a definitive diagnosis. I don't like the way the Memorial is flattened and effaced either side of the indentation. I don't like the way that Lincoln's coat is flattened opposite the indentation. Given the relatively narrow width of the error, the details of Lincoln's coat should be only slightly weakened. Gotta place this one in the suspense account.

I don't know if can make any more headway than I already have. Nevertheless, if you want to send it, by all means do so. Please PM me for instructions as I seem unable to PM you (nothing happens when I click on "Send E-mail" on your profile).

If there was a problem with the planchet, and they weren't expelled off the QC line because ov underweight - wouldn't the strike at least to attempt to add some details in that void - like the ebay coin?

Mark, you have a good question. You would think it would. I thought this is Struck Through, but Mike Diamond is not sure if it is a error or PMD. I am going to send it to him to look at it and see what he thinks. He is going to email me about the directions and guidelines. I don't think this is PMD, but I'm no expert. It would be pretty much impossible to replicate this void on my coin.

Mark , when the ebay coin was struck , whatever had filled that void was struck right along with the rest of the coin. This actually transfers the image beyond the surface of the coin so if some of the surface metal peels away the struck image will show. This happened to my coin in the pic here

'IF' this void existed in the coin in question before the strike then there would have been nothing there to transfer the image.

I'll let everyone know what it is once Mike Diamond looks at it. Mike Diamond hasn't responded to my PM yet.

I agree with Stoneman, the void existed before the coin was struck. I also agree with Mark, there are ghosts and UFO's. A very interesting coin, Eand V. In my opinion a pr-strike planchet error. I think if the object was there at the time of the strike and the coat was affected, it would be strong. Nice pick up.
