I found this CRH through a circulated bankroll from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. Weight is normal (3.1 grams). Unfortunately, very worn from being in circulation for so long, but it's doesn't matter to me what condition it's in. I was wondering if this is a Struck Through. I think it is, but would like to know for sure. Best find of the whole week! This bank box I'm going through had some amazing error coins in it.

That coat really didn't fill out well did it? Now I bet you didn't need a magnifier to see that monster, biggest one I've seen. Wonder what part of the machine that was, I've seen a pix of a screw w/ threads, that looks kinda rounded, an edge off a die holder or something?

Haha nope. I didn't need a magnifier to see this monstrous Struck Through. It's also the biggest one I've seen. Maybe a piece of fragment from the die or something? My best find of the week.

What is the weight of your coin. The reason I ask is if the coin is normal weight, it is a struck through. If it is under weight, then it might be PSD or a lamination. (I'm thinking your coin is normal weight) What does the edge look like? Thicker than normal?

The weight is 3.1 grams. The edge is normal. I can take pictures of the edge if you like.

I wonder if the thing it was struck through with was soft like wood? That would explain the weakness on the obverse bust area. (Sorry I missed the earlier weight, when I loaded it and went back up to the top, then I saw it was already posted)

That's ok Coop. I wondered what it was Struck Through as well. Whatever it was, it was huge and deep. There's definitely weakness on the bust since the Struck Through was very deep.

If you could clean the trench, you might see some evidence of wood grain it is was that that caused the issue? It might have been a toothpick? You might try to see if it is that size or not?

Very sweet find! I bet that one made the heart beat a bit faster! One question; The 2 pillars to the west of Abe seem much wider and the western most seems thinner.Could this object have shifted the die to make these anomalies? If they are in fact wider and narrower. But anyway very cool find!

Thank you Newbie234. You have a excellent question. I am not sure about the answer since I'm not a expert, but Coop might be able to answer you question for you. Best find of the whole week! Stay tuned for more upcoming posts!
