I found this CRH from a OBW BU bankroll that I bought from Nashua Coins and Collectables. The coin is in MS BU condition. It's in a VLDS and the die has sunk in very badly near the rim. No added value, but still a very interesting educational piece. This is more common on the Copper plated Zinc cents. The reverse die was pretty much at the end of its useful life since there's heavy die wear, die flow, and overpolishing from a Die Clash event. You can see how the die got soften up a bit from Die Deterioration. This is what I call a fun find.

Looks like a conventional case of "die-devouring die wear" in the form of a partial " Ridge Ring". Very common on zinc cents. Since this form of Die Deterioration is commonplace, it doesn't really qualify as a die subsidence error (even though it does involve a slight retreat of the die face). Confusing, I know. But to be an error, it has to be at least somewhat rare and reflect an abnormal condition of the die steel. Ridge rings are a normal response to the wear-and-tear of striking zinc planchets.

Thank you Mike Diamond for the quick response. It is confusing, but that's why we're here. I'll keep it anyway since it's in BU condition and a great example of die wear. It was pulled out of an OBW BU roll of 1990 P LMC's I will relabel it as "severe die wear (VLDS)".
