Hello CCF,

Could this be a 1964 Kennedy (Proof) Type 1 DDO or QDO? If so, does it hold any value? Is it rare? Are there any known examples?

I searched and searched but can't seem to find anything like it other than DDO'S with a RDV-002
(Flared G) reverse.

Coin is still in original mint packaging. I did the best I could with picture quality.

Obverse:
Appears to have normal hair (ODV-002) obverse with noticeable doubling on In God We Trust, 4 of date and RTY. I in Liberty has full lower left serif.

Reverse:
Accented Hair (RDV-001) with straight G and broken rays (11-13).

Thank you!

It is a DDO, but a minor one. Here is what the DDO-001 looks like:

In order to be a certain die number the hub doubling must be an exact match.

Thanks coop & Errers and Varietys

Better pics below...

I don't think the doubling matches DDO-001 exactly. Seems similar to QDO FS-105. Is that tripling or quadrupling on the base of the 4 and base of Y?

I notice there are not listing with images on the Variety Vista Site for Kennedy half dollars?
On the Wexler site there is an issue that has been brought to their attention about these DDO's that they are trying to deal with.

1964 50 WWHO-001 Doubled Working Hub

1964 50 WWHO-002 Doubled Working Hub

1964 50 WWHO-003 Doubled Working Hub

Reverse dies:
1964 50 WMDR-001 Doubled Master Die

1964 50 WMDR-002 Doubled Master Die

1964 50 WWHR-001 Doubled Working Hub

1964 50 WWHR-002 Doubled Working Hub

Doubled Master Die issue on the Proof half dollars. Also a doubled working hub issue on the business strike coins. (three different ones) How many dies were created with this doubling is unknown? Same will probably be true for the Denver dies as well.

Reverse dies:

1964-D 50 WWHR-002 Doubled Working Hub

1964-D 50 WWHR-003 Doubled Working Hub

If that is the case then a lot of these will probably be no longer considered doubled dies. Obverse or Reverse. This will also affect graded coins.
Save them for now to see what will happen to these later. Stay tuned. But there are still some varieties that do not show the master doubled die or working hub issue.

Can I assume that a 1964 Kennedy Proof (ODV-002) with RDV-001 is one of the earliest struck coins? Not as early a coin with ODV-001 but still relatively early?

Also, where were 1964 SMS (Special Strike) coins found; in mint sets or proof sets?
