I came across this 1993 D that definitely looks unique and have been able to find much information about it, let alone what this type of error is called. Anyone have any insight?

@Dmitrys, first welcome to CCF. Second, while you don't specify, I assume that you are talking about the zinc core peeking out from underneath the copper plating over most of the coin. This is called split plating and doesn't bring a premium to the coin. Here is a link to a little more information:

If what you are talking about is the white lines around the design elements, that is caused by the copper plating splitting to show the zinc core. This cent won't last long. Zinc reacts badly when exposed to air.
