Shy of human friends and family loss there isn't a more jarring life episode.
My sincere support.

Oh! What a beautiful, well loved kitty. It is a huge loss for you. We lost our eleven y.o. tuxedo last fall.

Thank you one and all! One of my fondest memories of him is when he was little and he used to jump up on my desk and help me sort coins. His method was to slowly push a stack of Buffalo nickels towards the edge of the desk and gently tap them 'till they fell to the floor. He was good at it! I wished he was here to do it now!

Kidney failure is one of the most common way in which old 4 legged animals (cats, dogs, ferrets, rodents etc.) reach the end of their life. When they sleep, they curl up tightly in cold weather, and expose their kidneys. A vet once told me that the best way you can extend the life of your old cat or dog is to put a coat over their back before they sleep at night, to keep their kidneys warm. Dogs are far more tolerant than cats to wearing a coat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In Australia, government stats reveal that 50% of the population over 50 years old, live alone. Owning pet provides very significant companionship for many of these people. It was suggested that some old pets loose their owners when their human dies, and they grieve as well. Many of these old pets end up in animal shelters, and need a new home. They make excellent companion animals for older people who happen to live alone. Find an old pet that is down on it's luck, that has lost it's previous owner . You need each other. An excellent case for a new win-win match-up.

We lost our Jasmine, 18, about 6 months ago. I was surprised to learn how big the pet euthanasia business is and how many burial/disposal opinions were available, including a cast paw-print!

Frog....
We are having a gathering here at the house this evening for family in memory of Sylvester. Tomorrow morning we are having a private viewing and cremation and will then bring him home for perpetuity.
Yes, it is amazing what options are available. We are so glad.
