Wow that overlay pic is an excellent tool to know what the image is behind his face. Theres also some that are on back of his neck that lines up perfect with your photo!is this whats called a die clash? Are they worth much? And finally how does this happen?

Die clashes happen when there is no coin in the striking chamber and the dies strike each other leaving an inverted reverse design on the obverse or an obverse design on the reverse

But the stronger the die clash, the more interesting it is. Yours is a very nice one. I would like to see wider images to see other areas of the clash. I have images of an ultimate die clash on a nickel. (very strong) The first coin I could even see the date on. But maybe people of getting tired of looking at it?

You have a nice strong die clash! I would also like to see full coin images if it's not too much trouble.

Thanks guys. I'm so glad to finally find something cool. I love the jfk half dollars and also Morgan dollars are my fave! I found an old morgan missing the D in dollar, but no other areas of weakness or damage just a missing D. I may post it tomorrow and also some larger pics of this coin

Here are a couple more images and o e of the back side for good measure. It looks really clean and normal except for some hash slash looking marks toward the bottom. On the face there are some faint traces of feathers on right side on neck. Any idea what this may be worth?

Nice clash! I would love to have this coin. I have a very strong clash on a Roosevelt dime. Coop said... Quote: I have images of an ultimate die clash on a nickel. We are talking about clashes after all!
