Grading is done. She received F15. I was hoping for a little higher, but at least it is a straight grade.

Edit:
Went back and looked at the estimates when first posted and CoinCollector2012 nailed it! Good job.

Congrats on the authentic straight grade

IMHO F15 is a fair grade for the coin, a little tighter than the VF20 I was at

If recent Heritage Auctions are a good guideline, then even at the F15 grade, it will still likely auction off at $3500 or more.

Thanks, BD.

I'm relieved that it is the real deal, and was pretty confident after the guidance of the CCF experts. Now, to get her back and figure out when / where to auction. This is all new territory for me and I'm trying to do things the right way.

Here is the link in PCGS database if anyone is interested. They haven't loaded the image as of now.

Glad you got a straight grade on this one. Heritage will have the best coverage and advertising, hence the higher fees. On a coin like this Great Collections is probably fine as the price is pretty stable on this key Morgan. They may be a rare coin and the key to the series, but there are usually plenty available in the marketplace as you have found yourself.

The price is fairly stable as well, it has gone down a bit in the past year as you can see here http://www.numismedia.com/cgi-bin/c...de2=pricesms in this graph. I'd expect to get at least a minimum of $3700 to a dealer and a bit more to a collector, if it were my coin. The PCGS price on your cert link is usually around 20% higher than the actual prices selling currently, not always of course, but in general, on the key date coins they don't lose nearly as much, in my experience.

Good luck in whatever you chose, hope you do well Bump111.

Hey, thanks for the reply and advice westcoin. After reading your comments, I may just see if a dealer or collector wants to purchase this item rather than struggle through the auction process.

PCGS photo is ready:

Heading to a coin show tomorrow - may see if any of the dealers are interested before vetting the auction houses.

The Morgan has moved to another home. I was able to sell it to a dealer during the weekend show.

A big thank you to everyone here for your help in the process. I also went through the coin submission process for the first time and now have that experience for future reference.

Now back to "normal" which is fine with me!

Glad you found a good home for her! I have one of those for sale on here that's graded VF25 and have $4800 OBO. That is considerably under the graph that west coin sent you. Hope you were able to get a decent price for it.
