I bought a group of foreign coins and there were 2 of these in there. Most were Middle Eastern, mainly from Iran. Both sides appear identical, looks like silver, and is about 16.4 mm diameter. Can anyone tell me what they are?

Looks like the number 34 in Persian at the bottom on both sides ... Would be unusual for a coin to have same design on both sides.

That is true. Despite the lack of a hole, my guess is that these are so-called "belly dancer" tokens.

As luck would have it, I have an identical piece. It is not a coin, but a token/ souvenir. It has a saying, in Arabic, about the 12th imam. This was according to a former Iranian co-worker of mine. Mine looks silver plated.

Perhaps a merchant or transportation token?
