I have a complete set. The tough ones are the 1928, 1928-S, 1934-S, 1921. I advise that you get AU or better coins in slabs as there are plenty of counterfeits and altered coins out there.

I've got a full set.
Mostly MS but with about 4 AU coins.

It's a good set to work on.
Not a lot of coins and many of the are relatively inexpensive in MS grades.

Peace dollars can take a goodly amount of time to make friends with.

I would recommend that you reconsider your AU goal. There are many dates that are very reasonably priced in 63-65. Take a look at NGC and PCGS population reports to see which coins are very available and at what grade point they become scarce.

With Peace the eye appeal factor is at least as important as the grade. There are a lot of ugly Peace out there.

Show us what you are considering before you purchase for honest opinions.

Thanks for all the advice. I've seen a few in MS state and they are nicer. AU would be much less costly though. I still have time as I still need the 2 key date IHC, so it will be a while but it's good to plan for the next acquisition.

I'll add these to my list. I was also thinking Mercury. Either way doable sets except for the 16 D.

These are the ones I got in AU so far. They were really a good price. And I don't think they look bad. I don't mind a collection that all look like this.

I've put a few set together over the years, the tough ones have always been the 1921, 1928 due to cost alone, finding really well struck examples is the key to building a really above average set, but can be done fairly easily as lots of Peace dollars are in the market place.

My current Peace dollar collection. Most of these I got from the AU bin at my LCS.

Picked up a few more. Got my first key date the 1921, I found her in MS.

And also got a few for the 2nd page. I'll get the 1928 in about 2 weeks and the rest hopefully before Christmas.

I actually ordered my first slabbed coin through ebay. Sucks I have to break up a nice slab to put it in the album.

My set. Admittedly not the finest examples. Mostly circulated XF ad AU in my opinion. The 1921 is a cleaned details coin, purchased on the cheap because of that. But none the less, happy to have a full set . .
