This "Numensmatical Quiz" appeared among other scrapbook clippings in a blog I follow. Several of the "never/not seen" questions are outdated because new coins have been produced, but it might be fun to guess what the intended answers were. No answers were provided (I couldn't find the original publication) though I'm sure they will be revealed here in no time. No prizes either, just sharing.

Since this is not really a contest or a quiz you will grade, I moved it for better visibility and discussion.

C'mon, someone's gotta give this a shot. I am what you might call an 'advanced beginner', here goes:

1. No idea, I'll guess Wilson, being a sort of 'liberal heathen'.
2. It's not C, that was the Type 1 SLQ. The others, can't recall any of them (at least not back when quizzes were typed on a typewriter)
3. Easy, C
4. Guessing B. C is the earliest small cent, Minerva I will guess is the Mercury dime or some such, and A I believe is the half disme.
5. Yikes! No idea.
6. Weird question, what do they mean "bogus"?
7. Easy, C
8. Either the wheatie or the 2.5, I am fuzzy on the dates of the latter
9. It's not C, which is the chain cent, but beyond that I am stumped. [edit: google search on Colphius yields pretty much nothing!]
10. I hope it's B ..

2. Isn't B -- that's on the 1915 Pan-Pacific commemorative
4. Might be easier if I knew the rest of the commemoratives better
6. I think they mean "which of these was never used to state the denomination"
9. See 4.
10. Isn't B -- that's on the reverse of the Mercury dime

Yep guessing one needs to know the Commemoratives to get 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, which I surely do not.

10B - looked it up, I thought that was a derivation of what might be under the Buffalo :)

I'd guess (1) is B (Theodore Roosevelt) -- the 1907/8 $10 and $20 had no motto varieties.
