Hey everyone, with the extra time I have now I had the chance to start sorting through my coins and thought I would share this one with you guys. Some of you may know about the 1978 High and Low 8 or (Large & Small 8) variety but for the ones that might not, you can find it in the Charlton 70th edition, you wont find it on Coins and Canada and theres not much information online regarding it.

I had no idea it existed until SPP-Ottawa mentioned it to me a while back on a post about another 1978 I had a question about, and now I have 2 of them, I'm really not sure what kind of premium they demand if one at all, but they are pretty hard to find so it is worth mentioning.

I don't use the height of the 8 as a marker... look at the thickness or boldness of the font, the large/high 8 will be thick at the top and bottom. I have sold every one I have found, at a good premium, even in AU grades (acquired at face value): https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1978-Canada...93436944477?

I have a mint state one at PCGS right now - any least MS-64 Red or better... of course PCGS won't attribute it, but I don't care - it is for my showcase set of small cent varieties.

The harder one to find is the "High 8" on the left, also known as the large 8 shown in the photos.

That set is very impressive, the 1954 and 1955 no strap I am happy to see on that list, did you find them yourself or did you purchase them? I've been keeping my eye out when I'm looking through rolls for these two but obviously no luck or high hopes so far lol.

Here is an error with a large/high 8, a two-piece bonded cap.

Here is my best 1978 Large/High 8 (so far). Currently PCGS MS-64Red. Not easy to find in gem mint state, and the hunt continues for a nicer one...

I should note that doctorman1941's photos are superb to show the difference in the thickness of the font, especially at the top and bottom of the 8.
