All my photos are of the same coin. Very happy with it. I think it has a shot at 66.

Are these 1978 varieties only in business strike coins only or are they also in PL sets or Specimen sets?

Just an update, thanks to the effort of smallcentguy, this variety now can be certified as such by PCGS, and it is now in the PCGS Canadian Elizabeth II Cents With Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1953-2012).https://www.PCGS.com/valueview/eliz...3859&g=65&h=As noted in my previous post, I have one in PCGS MS-65RD, now in a properly attributed holder. I suspect better ones will be found in time, as 1978 BU shotgun rolls are not that hard to find. https://www.PCGS.com/cert/42651238

Great work smallcentguy!
Really happy to see this variety being recognized, I'm not sure if it is common knowledge or not but I have came to the conclusion that the 1978 High 8 and Low 8 varieties both started out as a High 8.
There are 2 minor but distinctive markers located inside the top inner loop of the 8 that both varieties show (thousands of BU examples examined for both varieties confirm this) and with those markers it tells me that the 8 on some of the working hubs were originally High 8's and altered at some point either intentionally, or unintentionally, thus creating what we now refer to as the Low 8 variety.

That's not a Large / High 8.

What do people think? Not a great picture. I figure I just paid for regular 8 anyway.
