I have found three silver coins in the last few weeks while counting drawers at work.
Nickles (both pretty worn)
1945 P (w/ what looks like a little flake of metal coming off)
1942 s

Dime Probably in the F range (I'm still new at grading)
1957

But hey if nothing else... still silver!

Amazing that silver still makes it into circulation over there. I suppose with tougher times some people may be liquidating hoards.

All the rolls (except halves) that I have searched and pocket change have been very fruitless finding silver. Nice Finds!
Rest in Peace

It's the economy I think.

I have a clerk friend who found four silver coins in the last week.

I received three silver quarters in change at a Publix supermarket here in Florida last year. I took my groceries to the car and went back in the store and bought a roll of quarters from the customer service center. All were clad...so I went back through the same checkout line (number 4) and asked the lady to trade her quarters for mine - one for one. She obliged, and traded her $7.75 drawer count for my $7.75 in quarters. Stacked them right up on the bagging counter in piles of four. I ended up with $5.75 face in silver quarters, and she never batted an eye as she clunked obviously different sounding quarters out for my crappy Statehood Quarters. I sold them the next day for $51.

Groceries were free!!

For those who might want to know, it was the Publix on Bee Ridge road in Sarasota just off I-75. But this happened just about exactly a year ago.

it is in pitiful shape but it's the first mercury I've ever received in change

The only silver I found in pocket change was a 1943P nickel from a local store. Still looking for more.
