This is my 1857 small date. I think I paid about $130 for it. What grade was it given by NGC?

Sounds like a great price. VF-30 or better? Any chance you can throw more light on the surfaces? These pics are kind of dark.

Even with that small flat area on the crown, and nicks on the nose, & chin it looks nice enough for a FV30.

Enlarging the pics does not help. Surface details cannot be seen on these dark images. Hair incomplete, I'll stick with VF-30.

Tough with photos supplied..obv looks stronger than rev...XF-40 maybe 42.5...

VF25 reverse VF30 Obverse. Could go either way, but I'll say VF30.

Most of you were pretty much spot on. Coin is VF-35 NGC.

That au 50 from me was my spot grade based on eye appeal, not to mention ive seen au's look like that on other large cents. But looking at this one a little closer now put me closer to xf-40. Still a nice grade for a key date, and yeah, id pay 130 for it pretty quick for that.
