Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this blueness on silver proofs. Is it toning? Can it be removed easily with e-z-est or something? Not a big fan of it personally, although it does look kind of good on Ikes...

I like it. I say leave it be. If you do dip it, remember only a couple of seconds

I like it the way it is being 50 plus years old. I assume that is a photography issue on the reverse below the ERIC and stars of AMERICA?

Growing up I was taught to never touch or hold a proof coin in my hands. Impaired proof it is and if you do anything to it it will make it worse. It does have a nice eye appeal to it. Some one else might be able to better help with your question

You can not touch/alter/clean any proof coin. Blue toning will occur and it is desirable to some collectors, but unfortunately your coin will be considered Impaired due the smudgy finger prints on it.

Pale blue environmental toning on proof coins isn't that uncommon. Suggest leaving it as is.
Rest in Peace

I wouldn't advise dipping any proof coin no matter what the composition of metal it be .

Thanks for the comments guys! I was curious about the affects of dipping proofs briefly to remove residue (especially because it wouldn't seem to remove any cartwheel luster), and watched a video by Ben the Coingeek who briefly dipped a '62 Franklin proof and it came back PF69 DCAM.
Sounds like it wouldn't be as noticable if dipped or not on proofs..

I have some '65 SMS kennedys that have the same toning but also look Cameo. Hard to tell with all the toning though, so I'd like to know if dipping it really would be so bad.
Seems like a subjective decision on what we find preferable.

That's a nice coin. I don't see any fingerprints, just some haze.
