How often do you find Eisenhowers at your local bank? My local bank would not tell me how many they had, but led me to believe they are hoarding a lot of them. I picked up 2 rolls, I've only given them a quick look, but have found a couple of peg legs so far..
Does anyone have a link to a good Ike site with pics & descriptions?

I never can find em at my banks. If I do I'll wipe them out. Not for the collection aspect but just because they are so darn fun to spend Ever seen an 18 year old at McD's look like he just had an stroke? And besides, you get to meet so many nice shift managers too  |

I manage at a fast food resteraunt (sonic) that provides carhop service. Whenver I go up there off the clock to order food/drink my friends love taking out my order. They always get something cool as a tip such as modern dollar coins/ fifty cent pieces/ susie B's/ IKEs/ $2 bills, ect.
I actually bought over 100$ in IKE's from a person on this site for face value to just spend them as tips in resteraunts. Its pretty rad.

Went to the bank down here in TX there are two banks beside each other the 1st just said no we have no half's and did not ask. When I said big dollars she just looked at me like I was crazy.
The second bank the teller said no I do not have any why do you collect them I said yes I am from PA and never get D mints so she asked around and one teller had $ 6.50

Will keep the all guess if I see any other banks I will go in and ask them also as I have nothing to lose in asking.

Do you mean 78D, not 98D? BTW, 73D is a key, isn't it? That was only in mint sets I believe. That's a keeper!
The last few years when I ask for halves, I sometimes ask for Ikes. Most of the time its "no". But I have accumulated now about 65 of them, some of which are in really nice shape. Never got a 73 P or D or the tough 72 variety, though.

Yeah, it's fun to confuse kids at fast food restaurants with offbeat coinage.
I find it easier when at the bank to say to the teller that "a friend" has asked me to check for (whatever) with them. For some reason, they seem to go the extra mile when I do this. I guess it's easier to say no to someone standing right in front of you, but there seems to be more of a desire to help out a person who is apparently on a task for someone else.
I often have small town tellers asking all all their co-workers for odd coins for the "nice gentleman at the counter who is helping out his (grandfather/daughter/friend up in Canada collect coins" without even expecting "special" treatment.

I use the odd coinage for change when I return the change to my passengers for cab fare. You hand the a 50 cent piece and you would think your giving them a $100 bill by the way most of them act.

Opps, my bad. I had the thread title (Eisenhowers...) on my brain when I read his post. The 73D is not a keeper. Toss it back to circulation, unless it is BU.
