This may not be the best coin but considering the year it is certainly the best I have found in circulation.

Still not bad considering how most of them came from the mint looking horrible and this one was found in circulation.
I would enjoy learning a bit more about the thought process that goes into grading a coin.
I would have given this a 60 and I knew that was probably incorrect.

If the OP had not disclosed the dime was out of circulation, what are the common points of wear for this issue, hair above the ear, or something else. Also, how is perceived wear distinguished from a poor strike for this issue? Thanks!

That is an excellent question @shantiom. I would love to know the answer to that myself.

On circulated reeded coins, I always judge the wear by including the edge, do the reeds still look nice and crisp? Or are they rounded and worn?
I'm by no means a pro and will never claim to be...just my 2 cents

The simple answer to @shantiom's question is to examine the coin in-hand for luster breaks.
