Hi there I am new to this forum and I have a coin not sure if the green toning is an error or not. I would like some help in identifying the error on this coin. Vermont State Quarter. Appears to have green dye on the reverse and is thinner than of a regular quarter.

There is a crack on the reverse where the green is. If I need to take more pictures I will. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

@glm, first welcome to CCF. Second, it is a little hard to tell from these pics, but it looks like there is some sort of surface discoloration or residue on this coin. With regard to the coin's thickness, can you please provide that measurement plus the weight of this coin? Thx.

Not seeing much discolouration, but better photos would definitely help. A greenish colour could be from environmental conditions, or some applied surface stain or paint. Any discolouration would be considered post mint damage, whether naturally occurring or something artificially added.

I think the green crud is some kind of environmental damage. You could try soaking the coin in acetone to see it it removes the green stuff.
