The circle line is not suppose to extend into the date. Is this a new error?

Looks like damage from a coin wrapping machine.

The line is under the date so hard to believe it was made by a wrapping machine. Hopefully the closeup helps.

But these devices are not raised, but incuse. So the Wrapping Machine Damage of the top surface of the coin. This happens a lot on coins wrapped up in the rolls:


Just a damaged coin now.

Coop's images show that it's just damage, as other members have said. The incuse date is below the line of damage, that's why it doesn't show in the letters. I think everyone has been thrown off by this type of damage at one time or another.

This coin was on the end of the roll when it was wrapped. The crimping jaws made contact with the highest point and damaged the coin as it turned. Just a spendable coin with no collectable value now.

Aye, Wrapping Machine Damage it seems. I've seen this before on incuse dates.
