Hi Everyone, I found this 2005 D Jefferson which I believe is an example of OIV DDR-001, however it also has what appears to be a leaf /chip on the next branch up. I would love to hear opinions on this to confirm it is an example of OIV DDR-001. Thanks in Advance Eric

Eric, I know little about nickels and nothing about this variety. What I was taught awhile back is, the die is the die. So without even looking, I would say it's not what you think it is. Is the variety there? That's much more important than the markers, that's your first marker, the variety. Added. All right, I'm with ya now. Here is Wexler's cross reference via Brian's Variety Coins. On this listing, it points out the doubling above and you can see it on vv too, if you look hard. See what you think. LINK https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/listings/cat/8 I keep looking at yours and the part above just looks like a die chip, maybe all of it are chips?

The images on Briansvarietycoins are just not clear enough for me to see what is being pointed out on the top. If I ignore the top part it is a match for the images on variety vista, hence my dilemma. I am trying to figure out if it is oiv ddr-001 with a chip or a new variety all together or a match.
Regards, Eric

This might be a new listing? You might want to submit it to John Wexler? You could submit the above image and also your original image?

Moving them into one image helps your eyes from loosing information moving from one image to another. Side by sides are a quick reference.

Coop, you putting the pics side by side, makes me think even more now, that it is the same die, just different stages. The upper anomaly can be just barley seen in the VV listing, more so in the Wexler listing and then you have Eric's much more so. I could be wrong but think it's the same die, with progression and the upper anomaly is a die chip. To me, it does not resemble anything that would be doubled.
