Never seen one and it could just be some weird PMD was wondering if you guys can tell Because of the wear I was thinking maybe it's just his hair line. After looking close it looks more like a lamination error. I can't get super close but the metal seems to be split and raised on one side Edited by Wrekkdd 08/30/2021 5:34 pm

I must have annoyed a lot of people on here with my posts, or attitude idk, seems people would rather not even look at my posts, let alone give me a second opinion if that is the case then please simply say so. I'm almost at 1000 posts and have posted nothing good it seems. Maybe after I get my error book and scope I will just take a break for a few months and read the book and build up a real collection and maybe I'll come back with something interesting.
I thought this coin was something but no responses. Iv recently learned there is more rookie forums out there so I'm probably better of there. I feel like a tadpole trying to climb on land with all you frogs and I'm just gonna die:p figuratively. I was going to say a fish swimming with sharks but I don't want to say any if you are are sharks:). I guess the best way to put it without saying noob is that I'm a beginner still and I'm among masters.
You all have taught me so much and I thank you all for taking your precious time to even respond to some of my posts that now I can look back at and just laugh at how ignorant I was to the hobby. I would love to end up making some money off the hobby in the end even if a tiny amount (by the way etsey is the mist ridiculous site that I've ever seen with coin prices. I see people trying to sell nothing for 15,000 dollars.
Anyways I'll post for the next few days and hear any responses, but I feel like I don't belong in this forum yet. And I'm learning to slow. So I'll pick up more literature and continue to study every coin I get and research rather then just post. Until I can get a good enough photo of my coins and be more confident anything I post could be wrong (like this post to me it looks like what I posted). And mayb it is or could be, but without knowledge and equipment I'm just below all of you(the ones I'm speaking of I know you know who you are:p) there is plenty who join here and mayb get to 50 posts or even 5 posts then they are gone. I was hoping to find something by 1000 posts that I could put in a milestone contest but that dosnt look like it's going to happen lol.
Sorry for the long post but anyways I'll post till Friday and hopefully be able to get the scope and camera and book by this weekend, then I'll take a break and study and really get to look at my coins. Once I find something worthwhile I'll try and do a milestone contest to make up for all these bad posts and be able to post something that is worth your eyes;p

Been being the wife's sous chef this evening, so a little late to the show. It's really hard to tell with the pics but looks like a smoothed over die crack. See if you can't get some sharper pics.

What bad posts? Sure the coins you have posted have not yet panned out, but that is the same story for most people. Error coins are hard to find by most people (including myself) which is why I don't post up many error coins. If error coins was abundant - they wouldn't bring on a premium. I have been collecting coins for just about 50 years now, and I only have found 4 error coins (I have 5 because I bought one [It was an ASE so I had to have it]) As for your posting and the timing of responses - well that depends on when you post and when the people that have the knowledge to answer can sometimes be lengthy. At lease you are trying to post up what you think may be errors - that is more than I do. Don't give up the ship.

I guess if I'm going to get into errors especially Doubled dies(even more so with Canadian coins seeing as American coins are 1/100 over here) that anything good I will post will be after I get my gear. This coin I wish I could post better pics, I can see what I can do but can you specify an angle? I post to much and 1000 posts milestone I feel deserves something lol. Mayb I could do a bigger contest at 2000. I know okiecoiners gear and book will help me a fair bit and @coop I read every link you send lol. Some of the links aren't about anything I see or will see because if years and USA coinage compared to Canadian for errors seems very different. Even a die chip on a Canadian coin is semi rare in my experience. Iv looked at 10's of thousands of Canadian coins and iv seen very few DDD or other Die Deterioration errors compared to USA coinage, die chips and cracks seem much much more common on American coins( mayb 1/10 lol). Even the way these Die Deterioration errors look on are coins is different. On a side note I'd be happy to find a cracked skull Lincoln but happier with a lamination error:p. But back to my main point I just feel like I'm not learning quick enough an need to focus in research over asking you guys for answers. I feel my posts are semi ignored because of my lack of knowledge/ignorance in past posts. I'd rather not be a burden to all of you really knowledgeable folk and I just keep posting what seems like nothing. So a gear upgrade and a break to study and collect just seems more reasonable then spending time posting things on here. I've spend at least 500 hours just making posts and probably another 500 reading info to learn(probably more) which compared to many here is nothing but I don't like feeling like I'm just making worthless posts.

A friend gave this years ago: But on these thread, there are also some new ones on how to improve your light sources. http://goccf.com/t/406557#3484099Even though some of the threads may contain the same information, sometimes they are presented in a different way that you might see from a different presentation. If you find threads you like, post a comment on that thread. Also include the thought you like and it will bring that thread up so other newer ones could also read the information. It moves it back into the cue to be read/re-read by others a first/second or more times. It just takes a comment on your part, and it moves back up again to the current days threads.

That's a really nice DDR, I want to go through my 1962 cents now. I read the article on lighting and it very useful. Don't have a light filtering source so I figured I'd try a negative shot with my phone, but I don't think it's a good enough photo to help. Still not sure if this is a cracked skull, but I'm not thinking lamination error now

@coop so this is a die break? Also it's cool to see one of my photos edited by you, thanks for adding my name for credit, idk if you will ever use the image for reference but it's cool either way. If it is a die break would it carry any premium or more like a die crack? I know die breaks can hold a small premium.

These errors can't become worse can they? Or is this considered an error? I didn't notice before but the thing goes through or behind his ear as well. Also would this be considered a Lincoln cracked skull? I think this pictures

Often the area will be encircled with a die crack and it will be a RIDB (Retained-Internal-Die-Break) But with the circulation it may have worn of the die crack line?

@coop, I think there is still a die crack but I can't tell with my scope because if the hair lines. I researched these a bit on ebay(die breaks) and in the condition this is in I'm guessing it might be worth like 1$ if that?:p also why did you edit the photo? I appreciate it lol just you have never done that on any of my posts. Would you like some different angles?

I seldom save these as it would cost more than it is worth to sell them. You would have to make a bundle deal to make it worth selling figuring the ebay fees in.

I could always post it on etsey for 15,000$ , just kidding I would never. Etsey should really have more strict rules. Idk if any of the coins on there have ever sold, but the prices are pure robbery/fraud. I keep all my USA coinage either way in general you can't 'spend" pennies in Canada lol. I could probably sell my lot(only like 2200 pennies) for well over face but then I wouldn't get to inspect them. Also no idea how to ship/pack coins or anything else for that matter. Definitely something I'll have to figure out. So anyways my main question again, can I 2×2 this and lable it cracked skull Lincoln? Or is this technically something different. Also thanks for your time coop:) iv read many of your articles and they have taught me probably half of my numismatic knowledge, and I will continue to learn.though a Canadian specialist of your caliber would be nice to have around:p id say there are some contenders though which makes me happy that the hobby is growing over here.
