Beginners! Do not clean your coins!

I have this 1911 D LWC, I grade it F12, and it is a dirty, well circulated example. So I decided to do what I could to improve it's eye appeal. Using acetone soak, followed by soaking in some Verdi-Care, I used a toothpick and Verdi-Care and lightly tapped and poked at the grunge. Your thoughts? I know I like it better, but what is the general thoughts on what I did?

In general I'd say you did ok, but still I would not attempt "restoration" of anything of real value. Just say no. I have seen some beautiful coins destroyed.

I agree with the Frog, VG-10.
ça va bien aller

Restored.

But the coin is calling out for a good thumbing to finish the job. You could use olive oil instead but this is a last resort.

I respectfully disagree. I would put this one in my Dansco and call it a well filled hole.
