Can someone tell me if I may have one of those doubled die varieties here? I am looking at the eye.

Unfortunately, that is not a doubled eye 1943-P Jefferson nickel. The doubling of the eye is located below the original eye and is very prominent even in circulated grades.Yours looks like DDD to me.

Something I just noticed on the doubled eye lid? Look at the curve of the cheek as well:
