Apologies if some consider this a waste of time. Ans even more apologies if this is posted in the incorrect forum.
I am not an avid coin collector, but a colleague came to me regarding the attached dime in question. Partly because they didn't want to research it themselves, and mostly because they can't navigate a computer :-\
It is a 2018 Dime, that has a 'blob' on front and back. I was confident in telling my friend that after googling about the last few days, that this is an 'after minting(?)' result of something. But even I became curious as to how some of the detail of the coin still appear on top of the 'blobs' (can still read the 2018, and can still see lines in the leaves on top the blob in the back.)
again, apologies if this is a routine inquiry for most, but it is all a mystery to me, and I believe that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. Thanks very much in advance.

Appears to be heat damage--at first glance. Perhaps done by someone fooling around with a hobby-grade butane torch. We see similar coin damage a few times monthly on this forum.

No need to apologize, you asked a legitimate question and you got your answer.
We see quite a few of these on the forum.
Now the next time you see one, you will know that it is just damage and not an error.

I would like to Thank everyone for their quick and courteous responses on confirming what I assumed was something most here had seen a number of times. But it was a first for me. So again. Thanks to all. Greatly appreciated.

Sorry I missed being able to post this image yesterday. But it is as already mentioned as heat damage to the coin.:
