Hi all I can't find this one anywhere on line. My friends dad passed recently & this coin amongst other old coins were in a box he brought home. He asked if I could help him find something out about it. I'm not sure if someone messed with it at something or if it is for real. I have tryed to look it up with no luck. I wondered if maybe a foreign planchet because I want to say it has 12 sides but they are not quite right either. Any input would be appreciated.

It is not a wrong planchet, it has been altered,
the rim has been removed most likely intentional.
Just a damaged coin now.

I agree as well,

Jimmy said it perfectly, most likely someone intentionally caused PMD to it. For what reason, who knows.

Back in the day soda machines took dimes... this cent looks as if it was ground down to perhaps be the diameter of a dime? As pointed out above, now it's purely post mint damage. Value? Still one cent.
