Oh ,and also the government is repealing income tax is it sort of balances out ... As a learning aussie prepper, what would be the best thing to collect today for later return on investment versus desirability in a prepper survival situation ? what has the lowest premiums and likely good ROI ? thanks btw ; start your bunker and ark now !!! the best bang for my buck ?

If you are referring to a potential TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it) situation, it would be better to invest in water purification and means of producing / acquiring food than precious metals.

Quote: yes, my attic is fulling up nicely with toilet paper, 20 year preserved food, off grid power and water supplies... An attic is the worst place to store supplies, in case of war breaking out, tops of houses will get sheared off. And Toilet Paper? Do you think there will be running water? You need water first and foremost. You'll most likely poop in the woods or outside your house. TP is the least of your worries. And 20 years of canned food? Food in cans can go bad, how do you propose to keep it fresh, cooked etc? Do you have a portable heating supply? Whatever you use make sure you don't advertise to the outside world you have food, as that will be the first thing taken. You need an underground bunker with a stable air supply and some protection from attack. Quote: but I need some thing to carry locally to buy like milk, bread etc. a small as a trusted cheap medium of exchange... If the SHTF what would happen is that precious metals would be worthless. You are better having some type of gas mask, underground bunker, water purification, water and power supply. What would you do with PM's? No one is going to have milk or eggs other than farmers and what will the farmer want with your gold/silver? He wants to protect his farm, he'll take guns/ammo, water purification, power supplies, but PM's? makes him more vulnerable.

"There's a scene in the 1981 film "The Road Warrior" where Max comes across a dead body. He rifles the mans pockets, and finds a bunch of jewelry and some shotgun shells. He tosses the jewelry away. The only thing he finds of value is the shotgun shells."

I have a large stockpile of canned fruits, veg, tomatoes (are they a fruit or veg?) and Beans - lots and lots of beans, and lots of canned meats - all with a 'use by date' going 2 years from now. As the years pass, I bring in to older ones and use them up and buy more to replenish what I take out. I have enough food to last me for about 8 months, I also have many, many pounds of rice and pasta I keep in a deep freeze to keep it clear of any infestations. I also boxed up a few boxes of new clothing, (shirts, pants, socks, and a few pairs of shoes), I have an extensive stockpile of medicines, bandages, wraps, and surgical steel operating implements (for suturing up wounds and the such) splints, and braces and slings. I also have a fairly nice stock plie of water filtering straws and purification pills.. Strike anywhere matches are a nice bonus, but I also have lots of flint and steel. I also have a nice big stock pile of weapons and ammo. ( my go to is my .50 cal Desert Eagle), but in a pinch my .40 Taurus, my 12 gauge pistol grip shotgun, or my 30.06 hunting rifle will assist in my self defense... All of this will come in handy, provided that I'm not vaporized in a millisecond after the opening of WW3 that is

food can spoil becoming dangerous if you have a power outage.
get a plastics tub and fill it with water, after frozen place a coin on top of the ice.
if your freezer ever defrosts when you seek your food look for the coin sunk to the bottom of the water below the refreezed water.
love all the prepping ideas and tips !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you

simply I wish ; to try and find a reasonable source of silver of lesser quality to stack as an alternative to high grade pure silver at a reduced cost; possibly for later resale...

Quote: Alcoholic beverages for bartering You can make alcohol from just about any fruit or veg there is, all you need is a little sugar, time and pressure (pressure will come as the fruit ferments)

Good thing about alcohol is that it can be used as fuel in an emergency. Hence a still is probably also good to have. You can make your own moonshine and even use it for fuel when needed.
But due to the amount of oxygen needed, a few solar panels and a battery back up is probably better and safer (distilling alcohol is dangerous). Your electricity needs will increase in an emergency as you can only use what your panels name. Basically unplug everything, you'll need some cameras for surveillance and some basic lights. Try to keep heating cooling to a minimum. Since the government isn't around you better start stacking wood for heat/cooking.
