This is a forum for the famous Walking Liberty half dollar, the design in itself is clean and beautiful with the glorious Eagle on the reverse, also has anyone noticed how they don't put the Eagle on coins anymore? R.I.P Edited by Raiden 03/28/2023 11:39 am

I have posted these before, but thought I would add to the thread. I JUST finished my Walker set off last Friday, no pics yet b/c am trying to get the capsules ordered to finish putting them all into my En Caps album. Here is a 1942 DDO I got off of ebay...it's in a slab (won't be!)...and I do not remember the grade or I would put it here. The label means nothing to me anyway b/c grades are subjective and can change if resubmitted. The price was right and this DDO is hard to come by. The REV: A terrible picture of my 1917-S - will also be liberated. And some background wallpapers I made awhile ago using an MS 1946 DDO Walker:

Of all US classics, the Walker responds best to sharply struck, blast white, in high MS grades. My favorite US classic design. Wallpaper a case in point.
But the wear line shows up rather ugly on examples in less than in less than about EF-40, and thus I consider a design weakness.

Here are a couple of my less-than-EF Walkers - 1920D and 1944D:

I don't collect 20th century US coins EXCEPT: -- the tail end of the IHC set (1901-1909), and -- one of each face different value through 1964 (for my type set), and -- my birth year set (1941). So I only have only five Walkers. Why five Walkers? Turns out that the Mint struck two different proof Walkers that year: -- 1941 business strike -- 1941-D business strike -- 1941-S business strike -- 1941- proof strike with designer's initials (AW) -- 1941- proof strike without designer's initials (AW) That made 1941 a bit more expensive to buy. (Since I haven't posted an image on this site for years, I need to mess around until I get the technique right.) First try: Okay, that didn't work and after playing with it for a while, I still couldn't get the syntax correct. Been too long since I last did this.
Describe it as if there were no picture. Picture it as if there were no description.

Should I trust this, also before anyone says anything, yes I know the date is random and YES I know I will probably get a 1940's with no mintmark, but still https://www.ebay.com/itm/385322357263
