Looking for the best place or way to sell some of my common date Morgan and Peace dollars and some American Eagle silver rounds. My plan is to convert the silver to gold to make it easier for our kids in the event of our demise. Kind of leaning towards opening a temporary Ebay store if that would be worth it. It looks like I could open a basic store for $27.95 a month and I don't see a restriction if I only used it for one month. Anyone have a better idea? Ideally I'd like to take them to a store in Minneapolis and trade them for gold but they'd be making money both ways and I'd be losing. Thanks in advance!!

@jar, with a little more participation on CCF, you could sell/trade them here.

jardins, eBay will take a big cut - 13% (?). You might consider offering them here on the forum.

Get your posts up and sell here.

Yeah, selling here is an option but I'd need over 100 more posts. I suppose that's doable since I'm not in a real hurry. BTW, I also have 4 complete Walking Liberty collections and 4 Mercury dime collections (minus the 16-D) and I'm looking to sell 3 of each of those (I'm keeping one of each.)

jardins, maintain activity and your post count will hit the threshold before very long. You will get fair market value for your offerings here.

You don't have to open a store on eBay to sell there. I think you get something like 200 free listings a month, so unless you'd exceed that, a store is not necessary unless there is some other reason you are thinking of one.

Well, if you get real chatty here you can get your post count up quite quickly. ( I manage to get 30 to 40 posts in every single day, so 100 posts could happen in about 3.5 days..

Maybe try to sell at local coin club? I have a document on my computer of my collection, descriptions, when/where bought, how much I paid. I have it on backup drives, one drive at the bank box in case of house fire, tornado. I print this document about once a year with updates. My daughter knows about the document and my collection. It's a good way to let heirs know and they'll be able to look up approximate current values. Converting your silver to gold would mean less coins but your heirs still need info about them or they could be taken advantage of whether silver or gold. Your kids might enjoy getting a mix of silver and gold?

@KenKat You're right but you save on the percentage Ebay takes, just have to figure out if it's worth it or not if that's the route I decide go.

Just an update, found a guy in Minneapolis that offered a good price on everything. Got a little less on the WL halve collections, and Mercury dime collections and the penny collections but did better than expected on the Morgans and Peace dollars. He bought everything I intended to sell and wanted the rest but I gotta hang on to my favorites.

Ebay is expensive and a lot of work. You know the values ... put out a feeler on marketplace or among your friends and acquaintances. Offer the package and go find some gold.
Best of luck !

I also want to sell part of my collection here. Looking forward to making that threshold.
