Just moved to Tucson and have decided to put together a set of Peace dollars. Have 1921 and 1928 in TPG ms-64 so those are out of the way. Plan to focus on scarcer dates first.

Nice goal! These along with WLH's are my fav's! Is your goal MS-64 graded? Some of the branch mints in that grade may give you a little pucker factor...? smat

Have fun and show some photos along the way. You have a good start with two key dates out of the way. I followed this path several years ago and ended up with a top-20 PCGS set. Sold all of them except for the 1921 MS65/CAC and 1934-S MS64/CAC that I still have. Too bad I did not know you then as I could have made you a deal on some lovely coins. edit: Quote: Some of the branch mints in that grade may give you a little pucker factor I purchased the 1934-S MS64/CAC from David Lawrence about 10 years ago at $4600. It's significantly more expensive now. That's just one example of some of the pricey branch mint Peace in higher MS grade.

What are your requirements? Minimum grades, color, blast white, strike quality...

One tip, one suggestion to consider: Tip: While in theory it's nice to focus on obtaining the tougher dates first, I strongly suggest keeping your eyes open. If you come across a more common date early on with the type of eye appeal you REALLY LIKE, and the price is fair for the grade AND eye appeal (it's ok to slightly overpay for coins with the eye appeal you REALLY LIKE), don't let it pass. Suggestion: I also started a Peace dollar set early this year. However, for me, I decided to do a DATE set, instead of a set of every date with every mint mark. My reasons were that since a DATE Set consists of only 10 coins, I can then afford to buy coins in higher grades. I can pick and choose which coin mint to get for each date. This way, while my set will have only 10 coins, being in higher grades the "hits" on each coin will be far fewer than a set in lower grades, so my set will hopefully look gorgeous. Something for you to consider. Here's a hotlink to my set. I started out with two coins from my Type Set, so I needed only eight more. I've picked up four this year, so only four more to go! Once completed, this set will probably rank from #13 - #16. https://www.PCGS.com/setregistry/do...edset/324814Steve

hfjacinto - from the look of their website, which doesn't sort correctly, I doubt they have much of of what I normally am looking for. I won't go out of my way, but if nearby I may stop by.
