I decided that filling the Dansco 7070 was going to cost me too much, so I decided to go with the Whitman US Type 20th and 21st Century Album (#3688). I pulled whatever coins I had from the Dansco and placed them in the Whitman US Type Album. I purchased coins to fill the holes, and did a couple of upgrades as well. Most of the newer coins are from Proof sets. I funded my purchases by selling some coins and other items I had locally.

I decided to place some of the coins with their reverse on the display side of the page. I did this mostly for the coins that had different reverses but the same obverse, such as the Quarters or Kennedy half dollars. I quite like how the pages look this way.

I may upgrade the Buffalo nickle, and perhaps the Morgan and Peace dollars, but for now that's pretty much it for my US Type album. What do forum members think?

Looking Good Dude! Now to start collecting types backwards. Why not try to assemble a Seated Liberty type set and when you finish with that you can move onto a Capped Bust type set.

My wife started with a type set like yours. I talked her into adding some earlier coins as a type set. Not the greatest examples but she assembled a seated liberty type set and a capped bust type set using some old proof set lenses and modifying the insert. I think she spent about $160 on the seated set and about $300 on the capped bust set. I just wished she would have used a classic head large cent instead of the 1838 coronet. Next up for her will be the odd types (two cents, Three Cents, Twenty Cents, etc...) Just an idea of how you can expand.

Thanks everybody. I enjoyed putting this set together and I learned so much about US coins along the way. I'm figuring out next steps in my collecting, so thank you MisterT for the suggestion to collect other type sets.

I just came into a fresh Whitman US 20th and 21st century type album. Filling it with 'loose' business strike pieces I've had laying around. It's fun.
