Hey guys, I'm having a hard time with this one. What do you think. (Grade) Seller's pictures. I have coin in hand, but I'm not being able to get a better picture. Was sold as 1917-D Standing Liberty quarter Coin CLOSELY UNCIRCULATED The CLOSELY UNCIRCULATED is throwing me, havent seen that designation before. The guy has 100 % Rep on thousands of sales. Thanks for any input !. Edited by farrider11 01/10/2024 4:02 pm

Those pics look altered to hide cleaning marks, so I say cleaned as well.

"CLOSELY UNCIRCULATED" means it's not uncirculated but the seller wants you to think so. It's got wear on all of the high points and much chatter - AU50-ish, plus it looks cleaned, as Keith and sickpuppy have noted. The time to ask these questions is before you buy, not after.

I know of a seller that uses that term and is notorious for whitewashed photos to hide damage and/or cleanings. I'm more than inclined to say cleaned. Seller link?

The images are scans that put too much light onto the coin to provide an accurate grade. The coin is showing wear, and appears to be in the low AU range. The sellers uses the term Closely Uncirculated in place of Almost Uncirculated. From these images calling the coin cleaned is a guess, but I would also guess it has been cleaned. Put the coin under some light tilt it back and forth, and check the fields for cleaning hair lines changing directions. The coin could of also been dipped creating the brightness that you are seeing in the image.

More accurate because it is not skewed with false reviews I'd return it.

Agree - EF details (cleaned). Guy has to be a scammer. Nowhere near uncirculated.

I do my best to avoid sellers like GSG. I won't buy anything from any seller that does not offer 14 or 30 day full refund returns.

Some mental defective ruined this coin.
