Quote: "CHECK YOUR CHANGE I sifted through rolls of dimes from the bank & discovered 'mirror-like finish' on 3 coins - now it's worth up to $456k" I always enjoy seeing ads with the wording "worth up to..." That means it could be worth $1.00. Or $1.15. Or 25 cents.

Much ado about nothing. The seller can ask any price they want, and if someone buys it, good for the seller. Personal responsibility and education should be common sense.

When my BP is running a bit low, all it takes is browsing some of the coin ads in ebay to raise it back up a bit...

...most likely money laundering ... buy the penny, get some drugs, looks ike a legit transaction, dollar amount too small for law enforcement to investigate, ebay gets their fee, customer gets their drugs (or, whatever), no complaints ... done deal ... happens a lot, not just with coins, but with any collectable with arbitrary values ... ...search "RARE COIN", scroll through & you'll se a lot of this occuring. Notice that often, the seller will have little to 0 feedback ... ...By the way, the "Modern Art" world has been used for this purpose since the 1940's ... huge sums of money for something monkeys could do better ...

It's the marketplace--warts and all. As always, buyer beware.

For Variety it has "l in Liberty lives on the rim."
I don't see any "I" on any rim anywhere. The seller must have really good vision.

Quote:Not on ebay if the coin is not graded by NGC, PCGS, ICG, AMACS or CACG and the starting or buy it now price is over $2,499. ebay has turned compliance over to AI and my experience is that rule is no longer being enforced. I've reported ungraded coins listed as graded, ungraded coins priced well over $2.5K, and coins that are not what they are listed as. In every case AI reports that no violations were found. I've been reporting a lot of things the last couple of weeks to see what, if anything, is a rule violation. So far, AI hasn't found anything that is a problem.

I saw a crumpled current Bank of England £10 note, uncertified, with a slightly fancy serial number, for sale for over £30,000. I reported it and got this reply.
