I was going through a bunch of quarters I got from the bank and came across a quarter that says "1994t"
I have never seen or heard of this before. Has anyone else been made aware of this? Thanks

To CCF! It's a stain from environmental damage ( PMD) and what you're seeing is Pareidolia. Your coin might have been in a cup holder and had liquid spilled on it.

I think it is just a scratch in a dark stained area.

with all 3 comments above.. a scratch on a gunked up portion of the coin causing Pareidolia - Better images could help here though.

Take your pictures straight on, not at an angle.

Welcome to the Forum. You've come to a phenomenal place to share and learn.

Agree with the Pareidolia consensus.

Though I also agree with the request for better pictures of the coin straight on and not at an angle.

knowing how dies are made is essential to understanding that extra letters, numbers, designs are impossible to be made at the mint.
How coin dies are made/used:

The one exception is a dropped letter (that can be looked up at error-ref.com) and your most certainly is not a dropped letter.
