Welcome to the forum. If I am understanding correctly you want to buy a complete silver proof 50 State Quarter set? Price you have given is $700. That is very overpriced it seems. I have found the same thing on ebay for $295. Save your money. Here is the one I found on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-2008-US-MI...-9_W0QQitemZ380123349865QQihZ025QQcategoryZ41113QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You could also buy the year sets individually cheaper it seems and build your complete set that way. Just a suggestion.

Although it has come down considerably.....just two years ago, I was at a coin auction where "just" the 1999 Silver Proof Set was sold for almost $800.00 ! But of course you are just referring to the "Silver State Qtr Sets"........all 50 in Silver Proof. Yeah, I think that's way too much money for the 10 Sets. Some years are worth much more than others, but if you averaged $35.00 a Set, that still only comes to $350.00. Let's just say that guy is trying to take advantage of the "Qtr. Mania" finally ending and it's popularity. A year or two from now he'll be selling it for MUCH less I bet !

That ebay set is missing the 1999(which is $300 by itself) and the 2008(which is about $50). The 2001 set is worth around $100 so assuming a $35/year value is way low. For $700, you should be able to get a 1999-2008 group of Silver Proof Sets, not just the quarters. Before 2004, the only way to get the silver quarters was to purchase a whole set. Since 2004, the silver quarters have been sold separately. Full retail for the 1999-2003 full sets and 2004-2008 silver quarter sets would be around $600 and full retail for a run of full sets would be just a bit over $700. Also for that price, you should have all of the original government packaging(OGP).

The prices have dropped over the last 2 years and it seems likely the downward trend will continue.

The ebay set does have the 2008. In the auction it says he's added it to the auction. I did notice that one of the sets doesn't specify silver on the box.

Ah yes, you are right ratman, I just glanced at the pic and did not see it At any rate, if you are spending $700, you should get all 10 years of complete Silver Proof Sets with OGP.

Not if he is talking about the silver quarters only.
