Although it has come down considerably.....just two years ago, I was at a coin auction where "just" the 1999 Silver Proof Set was sold for almost $800.00 !
But of course you are just referring to the "Silver State Qtr Sets"........all 50 in Silver Proof.
Yeah, I think that's way too much money for the 10 Sets. Some years are worth much more than others, but if you averaged $35.00 a Set, that still only comes to $350.00.
Let's just say that guy is trying to take advantage of the "Qtr. Mania" finally ending and it's popularity. A year or two from now he'll be selling it for MUCH less I bet !

OK eaglefoot, I've got to yank your chain a little.....what makes the future of the Lincoln roll sets any different from the State Quarters?

To keep this on topic, I agree with all the posters that think the set is overpriced.

In theory, of course absolutely NOTHING ! .....

The only difference (or hope) is the fact that the Lincoln Cent is BY FAR the most popular and collected coin on the face of Mother Earth ! ....

And good ol' Abe seems to warrant a "sustained" interest that, not only doesn't waiver, it seems to "grow" with interest, and with "millions" of new collectors the "sustained demand" might give some hope for these new Cents to be more than just cheap/zinc or garbage coins !
And I gotta say........NO ONE believes, including me, that this "bubble" would be maintained for an infinate amount of time. It's just that's it's SUPER EXCITING TO WITNESS AND BE A PART OF !
There's a "love" for the Lincoln, and "this" particular year esp. that just makes it really attractive. The "peak" and the "valley" to this remains to be seen. But nobody thinks that the "two Set Rolls" will be worth $80.00 in 47 years ! (but I would LOVE for that to be the case !)
But the things that make this years Lincoln "interesting" is just different than what made the "quarter change" interesting.......the same.....but still different....
We love ya ABE !

coin vault tv show ? Does this come on the cartoon network channel or comedy central?

Crain I believe wheezy was only saying this in jest. Most coin tv shows such as that are extremely overpriced and seldom offer any real deals. Because they offer gold plated coins, Obama coins and such that aren't worth more then face value we sometimes poke fun at them. It is sad though that they do lead a lot of new collectors astray with misinformation and overpricing.

Welcome

Is there a way to short these lincoln rolls? Those prices are absurdly high.

Even if you are disabled there are many better places to buy quality coins at fair prices with little risk of being taken advantage of if you are careful.

I played the link and saw the 5 and 10 oz silver bars they were selling. Just hearing those guys and their voices made me nauseous.
Personally, I would never recommend doing business with them to anyone, nor would I buy from them myself. EVER!

Wheezy.......

I agree with ya whole-heartedly, but you've got to admit.......you still find yourself watching them and their ilk on occasion. It's still a way to just "look" at coins, and for some people to "learn a bit"......even if one never intends to buy anything !
If I'm up at 2:00 am.....and those coin shows are on......I can't help myself !.....yeah.....I may laugh at their outrageous prices and scoff at them and throw stuff at my tv.........but I can't stop watchin' ! .....
It's just fun to watch modern versions of "Snake Oil Salesmen" put on their show for the unsuspecting civilian !

And why is it that whenever I say or type "Wheezy" that I think of the Jeffersons and that song gets in my head........"Movin' on up !"
...... ......

I will not pursue "cleaned coins"........esp. if it's "junk silver"....."cleaning them" should not add any extra value to them.

I think it would be neat if you got an entire year "Silver Proof Set" (with all coin denominations for that year) for all those "special years" !

Sure........but really......you need to post some good pics of them up first.....then let members "weigh in" with opinions on what to do.

Welcome to the forum.

Don't dip your silver coins in tarnex! It will not increase the value, and if the coin is worth anything over spot silver, it will decrease its value.
