@adam, first welcome to CCF. Second, with the current pictures, I agree that we can't see anything unusual. Can you please post a close up image with an arrow or something indicating where the extra letters are? Thx for helping to clarify this for us.

Under "E Pluribus", directly under the S another S can been seen. I don't think this is a case of Pareidolia because my eye was drawn to it immediately. The S appears to me to be the same size and font style as the S in Pluribus. Perhaps this could be a dropped letter, perhaps it is Pareidolia, but I do see another S.

to the CCF As stated above Pareidolia. If you look at a coin long enough, you can see anything you want to see.

the damage on the rim was possibly made just after the coining process and prior to packaging as it dropped into the holding bin and had other coins impact this one.

I agree with Dearborn and I also believe you see what you are stating, but there are numerous contact marks on the rim which would make it difficult to differentiate leeters from contact marks, unless you are able to do a close up on an example of what you see it would help. Now whether it is considered Pareidolia or not, which has been mentioned above FIVE TIMES
