I had an amazing day at the bank! Four 1937 one dollar bills and a 1954 radar note!! There was some silver too! http://goccf.com/t/478325 Edited by Enyaw 04/04/2025 4:14 pm

I am envious..... local banks here say they are under strict instructions all old bills must be returned to BoC and cannot be sold to ( given out) clients....

Received a call from the same bank this week so I just picked up another little score. Not sure if it is someone doing spring cleaning, but I'm not complaining!!

Hi @mfhorn, Quote: At what point, or year, is considered old in Canada? Surely the 1937 & 1954 series are considered old, but what about beyond that? In Canada all banknotes have been switched to polymer. Therefore, all of the previous banknotes that were made of paper are being collected at banks and sent back for disposal.

@Enyaw;
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I knew Canada had switched to Polymer, but until recently I didn't know they were taking the paper from circulation. I have been putting a type collection of the more recent ones together (from the '70's), and am finding this out. I had already acquired the '37 and '54 series several years ago. Would you happen to know of some dealers, either in Canada, or here in the States that have a decent inventory of Canadian notes?
Thanks Again!
