I'm thinking with silver prices so high, this might be a good time to sell off some bulk/common silver and pick up some coins to fill holes in albums (I'm looking at you 1916-D Mercury dime). Anyone sold off their common stuff and picked up things to fill up your album recenty? What was your experience and what did you get?

I've thought of doing something like that from time to time but then I aways think that "today's high prices" might seem like a bargain tomorrow and I stand pat.

The only stuff I've got rid of are a little 90% rolls, and mostly 40% rolls and some Ikes. I kinda regret selling the common BU 90% rolls but I'm fine getting rid of the 40% stuff. I basically traded these for ASEs and Peace dollar proofs. Might not be the best deal in the world but I'd much rather have 99.9% silver than 40%. Now I'm mulling over getting rid more 90% to get some key dates but I may regret it so I'm not sure yet. It's hard to let much go that's 1950s and older....

There would be quite a few genuine numismatic collectors that would be currently disposing of junk silver for nice coins of much greater numismatic value.

Not yet - just sitting back and watching to see if the price of silver will hit $100/oz.

I thought about trading in some of my 5oz. America the Beautiful coins (bought for @ $95 to $125 many years ago) for a few coins needed for my 7070, then decided against it. USD will continue to loss value whereas silver will hold. Rather pay cash (that I can replace) then dump silver right now. Remember Sell gold/silver only when you need to

Decisions, decisions, ..........I'm getting to the point in my life where one of these will give me more enjoyment than a bunch of silver sitting in my vault....

One of my friends has a red 1970 455 HO Pontiac Judge. Same body style.
One of only three right hand drive cars in the World. Made for a UK customer, who died before it was delivered to him. Laid fallow for a few years, before imported to Australia (also a RHD country). Car driven sparingly for a few years more, then 2nd owner died.

My friend (who builds auto gearboxes for the drag racing industry), acquired it out of 2nd owner's estate, modified the manual 3 speed g'box with overdrive on all 3 ratios, otherwise bog standard, original in as still new condition, never needed any restoration.

Blows my recent AMG Merc to the weeds!

I have some "junk silver" left over from my CRH days. I am contemplating taking it to the coin show next month and see what I can get for it. The last three holes are still looking to get filled.

I have those exact "last three holes" to fill myself. I've put off buying them for so many years just because there were so many other "cheaper" coins I could buy for the price of one of those coins. So, I kept completing sets, minus the big money key dates, and buying random U.S. constitutional and foreign silver whenever I could get my hands on it.

I think this is a good time to consider trading in some junk silver to fill some holes.

Technically, I have the money for them. I just have not found what I want. Yet.

But making a trade? Well, that would actually widen my reach! A trade gives some "added value" to the coins I am excluding by giving them a more personal story.
