I dont know why but I want buy something that I can look through and examine. I'm sure all of you are familiar with these kinds of auctions. Are these things for real? Like do they really come with the coins they are said to have. This seller offers a 100% money back garentee. It's a shame you don't get a million coins.
What you do get is 83 coins with a $1.37 face value fot $20.95 plus $5.95 = $26.90 total.
So it's a grab bag, Condition unknown, dates unknown so you might not get anything you really want. The money ($26.90) could be better spent getting a sure thing, in my opinion. This type of auction offers a treasure hunt
without the promise of treasure.
I've seen this same picture over a year ago, so Don't panic ...you won't miss out. (his kids haven't aged a bit)lol.

I tend to think all those "UNSEARCHED" lots are total stuff. If you want a real treasure hunt just go to the bank and buy $20 worth of penny, nickle or dime rolls, search em' and then return the rest and start all over. You might find something and you might not, it's all about the hunt though.  And it won;t cost you but what ever you keep! Margaret |

I agree with Margaret 100% - this is no way to hunt for rarities. You are far better off in a bank search. For the amount paid I am certain you could do better for yourself in 99.99% of coin shops I have visited.

Oh! I agree Hole Heartedly with you, it just tripped me out the first time it did it to me. I am known to make typos but was sure I wasnt typing "stuffpy" but thats how it always looked, took me awhile to see what was goig on and a few edits to get it fixed

and as for the auctions in the topic.....RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!! do not fall for the "unsearched" grab bag of coins scheme. They have reeled in many people thinking they are going to find something "special" there are no unsearched coins on ebay, someone has always looked through them picking out anything thats worth anything. They may throw back a 100 dollar coin for every 5 thousand dollars they sell just to make their feedback look good for others which is another marketing scheme in my opinion, I mean yes one person may spend 25 bucks for a 100.00 coin but what are the chances of that person being you? I would pass on a 100.00 coin for every 5000.00 I sold worth also if I had a big hoard like that wouldnt you? I would rather see someone buy a 25.00 coin for the 25.00 than see them gamble on being the "one" person every 5 or 10 thousand dollars worth to get a 100.00 coin Edited by Bryan1315

Coins from the bank are not a bad way to add a few things to your collection.
Just today , I have gotten Ef 1958D Jefferson, BU 1975D jefferson,AU 1984-D Washington !!( If you have never taken a close look at the 84 Quarter check out the rims on this date !!
2000-P sackie with Reverse die cracks,, first sackie dollar coin Ive found with die cracks !!
Go for the Bank and stay away from the grab Bag auctions !!

Thanks for all the great advice. I did try the bank thing. I only got rolls of nickles lol but I took out all of the new nickles. Either today or over the weekend Ill get rolls of everything and try that. Metalman, whats a sackie?

Laxmaster, you could even order some rolls from the mint. Nickels anyway, maybe some halves. You do pay a bit of a premium for them but you know you are the first to search them. Might find a neat error coin or a really nice BU coin. The mint charges $4.95 shipping no matter how many rolls you order, so you could order several of each.

I was like laxmaster when I first got back into coin, I went out and bought coin from this type of auction where it is a grab bag. at the time it was fun but when I learned more about coins I relize how bad I was getting taken. so I will echo everyone else run from those type of auction. I would sugest you find a few type of coins you like and focus on getting those from members here that have ebay auctions since all of them will treat you right. or do what other said and go to the bank and just buy rolls that is alway a fun way to feel coin folder and you will learn alot form doing this. |
