fmtaxguy,

My question was more related to the fact that he is saying it is a clad coin in the description. I know obvious fraud is covered by ebay, but he does say it is clad at the end. His revision was a bit more clear about this as you noted. So I wonder if in this instance if ebay would side with a buyer that didn't pay close enough attention to the entire description, or would they side with the seller who did say it was clad even if it wasn't the clearest description ever made.

Edit: After rereading the description I think there is a case for a buyer getting his money back. Not because of the clad issue (which still interests me) but because I notice that he doesn't say it is a replica anywhere in the description.

When the mint decides to only release a certain coins only in proof or mint sets.

Royal Mint in the UK did this with some of the 2009 releases. No prior warning that this was going to happen.

2 Pound Normal Reverse, Robert Burns, and Charles Darwin
50 Pence Royal Shield, Kew Gardens, and Kid Designed Olympic coin

Mintage figures show that none of these were minted for circulation.

This was a great start to their plan of 29 different themed 50 pence coins leading up to the 2012 Olympics.

Only the 2 year of the Royal Shield Reverse and you can't complete the 2009 set because no 50 pence was released for circulation.

Pet peeves or things that really bug me?

I do not use ebay so you people will just have to endure my rant!

1. The 1922-D "Plain" hole in the Lincoln Cent Dansco album.

2. The duplicate cent, nickel, and dollars from buying both the clad and silver proof sets (Or the inability to get a silver dime and half dollar when buying the full clad set and a silver quarter set).

3. The satin finish mint set coins.

4. The edge lettering on the baby dollars; especially the mint mark which makes collecting a P&D album pointless.

5. The copper plated zinc cent is still being minted and the one dollar Federal Reserve Note that is still being printed.

Your coin pet peeves?

Countries that allow themselves to be used as "flags of convenience" by big overseas mints, just so the "products" which that mint produces can be legally called "coins".

The fakemasters of China and their ever-expanding repertoire of coins they can fake and sell on ebay, and ebay's refusal to simply write off China as a lost cause.

"Mint sets" that come out the year before the actual date on the coin, just so the mint can sell them as gifts for Christmas. It's tied in with Kena's pet peeve about coins in mint sets not actually being issued for circulation. To me, a mint set should comprise all the coins the mint actually made (past tense) that year; the coins should be sampled from the actual production run and the sets should only go on sale once that year's coinage is finished.

The silliness that's associated with the extreme adherents of TPGs: the crackout game, coin doctors, CAC stickers, registry sets and "misere set-builders" who are attempting to obtain sets in as low a grade as possible; this latter group bugs me the most, as they will actually deliberately and premeditatedly make their coins worse, in order to lower their grade - the complete opposite action of what a true coin collector should do. For some coins, P-1 and FR-2 graded coins are as valuable as AU-50 examples. That's just sick and wrong.

Countries that can't figure out how to replace their lowest denomination circulating banknote with a circulating coin, despite having tried for several decades. That would be America and... well... yeah, I reckon America's the only one. C'mon, guys, it's not that hard a concept.

When someone says to me It's gotta be worth at least X number of dollars. They have no idea what it is or it's value so they just imagine what it might be worth. Such is the case with darksiders all the time. "This is a 2 Euro cent from somewhere, Gotta be worth at least a dollar"

I don't like it when a coin is cleaned and they do not state it before the purchase and you find out the hard way.
