Looks like VF detail Damaged/Corroded

(second look - I'm probably giving it too much credit F-12 detail damaged/corroded)

I think, if that coin didn't have any corrosion on it that it would be VF.

Thats a sad piece.
By the condition of the rim and the bow tie you can see that actual honest wear is minimal;
but the corrosion is so involved that some of the features for grading a unidentifiable (ie: the jaw).
Would have been worth a pretty penny if it didn't lay in the ground (or whatever) for most of it's life.
Can you really call it VF details if the details are obliterated, if so I agree with Maineman

I'm willing to bet it was an XF+, possibly AU coin when it was dropped. You can tell the rims are well defined and the wheat lines and seeds look strong. I know, I wish there was more I can do for this coin but, there's not.

This is a VF details, heavily corroded coin that would sell for G-VG money. PCGS would put it in a "genuine" holder, if in fact it is genuine. Some scummy people would take a Chinese copy and corrode it on purpose to hide the fact that it's not real...not saying this is the case here, just saying I cannot tell with a couple of small pics.

Thanks Chuck. That thought has crossed my mind about its authenticity, but under a loupe and after careful study, all the right diagnostics tend to be there.
