When I actually see a Presidential dollar in circulation, I'll let you know. So far, not yet......

Quote:from SBA and on, the Feds just can't get us to like them. They need to stop worrying about the public liking them. Just stop making dollar bills and move on for crying out loud.

I use them all the time. At work, our vending machines use them and the $1-$5-$10-$20 bill changer will spit out dollar coins. I throw a $20 in there and check out the coins and spend the rest. But I never get any back in change. Get rid of the dollar bill and then people will use them.

Quote: If you want to find them (usually Mint State) go to your local Post Office that has a vending machine, and put in a big bill and only by a stamp or two... the change will most likely be in the new dollars. The Post Office is required to use them. Well, that was how I used to get them on a regular basis. However, within the last two years, every post office in my area has gone to cashless vending. No more change at all, let alone baby dollars. Quote: They need to stop worrying about the public liking them. Just stop making dollar bills and move on for crying out loud. Amen to that!

Transit stations are required to hand out change in golden dollars in the automated ticket kiosks. Get them all the time, but the ones I get aren't new but circulated & the gold color discolors easily. That and the mostly unimaginative designs make them unattractive to use or collect.

I bought a beer at a Dallas Mavericks game a couple of weeks ago and they paid me my change in dollar presidential coins.

Funny thing is. Talking to the ladies at wells fargo, who I have known my whole life...I striked up the conversation of what they give out most.
1. Dollar Coins. 2. 2 dollar bills.
They told me they gives Hundreds of Dollars of both in a month period. Cause I asked why they never have Halves for me...they say no one ever asks. I could get them to keep some in stock, but haven't needed to yet. She said people give those two as tips, but she never sees them come back in. She assumes the stores just keep them in the safe, because people either one...don't think stores will accept them after having them...or two..not real money.

Or three, hang on to them because "you never see these!". Many people think they are scarce or valuable for that reason.

At the New York Auto Show, the Javits Center's vending machines give out dollar coins as change. They kind of have to; a soda costs $3.50 and other drinks, such as Vitamin Water or Snapple are either $3.75 or $4. The bill acceptors can take $1's, $5's, or $10's, necessitating dollar coins as change. On an unrelated note, when I picked up some loose dollar coins today, one of them turned out to be an '81-S Anthony. The first '81-dated SBA of any sort I've found in circulation in ten years.

Got a 1979 P SBA in change today...as a quarter. I noticed it but thought it might be a ATB or something & didn't check it until I got home. Must be my lucky day!
