could we start a thread with all the different marks and a photo example of each? Like, for instance, a long knock. a worm, the parts of the coin, etc?
also, the tiny claw marks we sometimes find, what are those called? thanks again.

Sounds like a good Idea, and one could put other fundamental things like the differences between Obvsere I, II or II/I ect and Reverse types in it as well..A1,B1/b2 C1,2,3 and C4 types and the differences...These differences don't apply to all years, they are studied to the years the changes were made, one wouldn't need to think there was a C type reverse used in 1878..yet when learning the VAM's our studies refer to the coin in hand, so this basic knowledge would be a good reference...

Just keep in mind, I'm pretty much doing everything which can possibly be done on the Planet Earth, all at once. We're stretched a bit....thin.

A partial answer to the question posed here is actually what I'm doing right now, and you can expect to see it tonight.
