I have been following this thread, and looking at DVCollectors pics it looks like to me, that the 'dot' is a maple leaf that has been distorted somehow.

I would like to see the OP's close up picture so it would give us a better look.

In all fairness to every one who responded they were only giving their opinion and the first scan did look like a warn maple leaf however the scan by dv collector shows the dot clearly with 2 marks beside the dot.cheers nick.

That dot appears to match the reference photo from Charest.
