Anyone know what's in this green box? Seller says GSA CC Morgan. This might be a question for Conder, but anyone else too. I thought the original GSA CC Morgans came in a white box with the date stamped on it like this first link. Current auction is second link. If I knew what was in it, might bid if price doesn't get crazy.

The box is a denim blue color and not green. Every coin I've ever seen out of the blue boxes like this were either 82, 83, or 84 CC's.

The date stamp on the label is the date it was prepared for shipment. The date stamp on the back of the box is the day it was either accepted at the post office or delivered by the post office.

Notice the Registry number begins with "82"? That should tell you something!

Ya, I saw the 82 and that was my first thought. Even.if it were a meaningless number that's a strong sign to stay away over say $250

These could've easily been steamed open and resealed, to me it seems like another auction trick like the fake rolls with high dollar coins seeded on the ends, or the made up old time bank rolls of silver dollars that seem to appear so often on ebay these days.

I'd be very wary that this isn't a low grade GSA coin that's been checked out before.

Hey thanks everybody. Yeah, the prices on these are crazy. I wouldn't be surprised to see this thing sell for 700+.

One has to ask oneself "What do I collect? Coins or unopened boxes?"

if your answer is coins my question is 'Why buy an opened box?"

Do you think there is any chance at all that this person does not know what is in that box?
