zx6rider New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 06/09/2016 1:18 pm Was looking at a 1939 D Mercury dime when I noticed the too LIBERTY has no T. Looks like an I. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 06/10/2016 12:06 am If it were a Struck Through Grease error, the die would be full up on that top of the device. Someone may have wiped the die with a cloth? That filled certain areas of the devices that are sunk into the die leaving the fields cleared. Report this Post to the Staff
macmercury Pillar of the Community United States 5846 Posts	Posted 06/10/2016 01:59 am I seem these fairly often around the peripheral, it can even happen with coins in AU grade, especially the later years in higher mintage. Your example is a well circulated, adding more wear to its appearance. I'd say is a weakness of the die, and striking issue or both. Report this Post to the Staff
