I am trying to determine if my Eisenhower Coin is an error coin. It has two red markings at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions. At first glance they appear to be red magic marker or nail polish. After more inspection these markings are not on the surface of the coin and can not be scratched with your fingernail. Also, they both end on the rim of the coin stamping. Any opinion would be appreciated. Thank You
and nice closeup pics! It would be a good idea to post the full images of both sides of the coin to best help you determine what you have. I don't know of any minting procedure that would leave hard red somethings on a coin like that, so I vote this was done after minting.
